i barely made it in under the wire, so to speak, but my three younger siblings had to quit (our dad made them--he said they would be better off "pioneering" but in reality he put them to work in a gardening business he started since he had quit his job and maxed his credit cards--waiting for "the end".
No I didn't drop out of school but I remember as my mum and dad drove me up the driveway to my secondary (high) school in 1973 they said 'this will be your school until armageddon'.
I went back there a couple of years ago and the school no longer exists - it's been demolished ready for housing.
If it had been my school until armageddon just think how much I would have learned by now - I would be super brainy!

that is scary ... why does what they say in public sound very much like what dubs say among themselves in private.
I've just watched it too.
They reminded me of the pictures in the older literature showing 'brothers' 'sisters' and children marching up and down the streets declaring that 'religion is a snare and a racket' etc etc.
I found I was watching it half with my old witness hat on thinking that though extreme there was (was - not is) some truth in it. Then I jolted myself back to reality and thought what a bunch of weirdos.
It just shows what grip religion can have on people, including little children and no where is this more prevalant than in the JW community.
Bubble and I just lurrrve holidays (vacations for the unititiated!).
We prefer to have fewer better holidays rather than lot's of cheaper ones, if you know what I mean.
This year we went to Paris and stayed at the 5 star George Cinq for a couple of nights as it was Bubbles' 40th.
Then we spent a few nights in Prague at the 5 star Savoy for our Anniversay.
In July we will be spending 10 days in Switerland at the 5 star Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken.
I know that seems a lot for one year but that is more than usual. We are saving to go to the World Cup in South Africa in 2010 - we will really push the boat out go luxury if we can.
For our anniversary next year we thought of Vegas but probably too far and too expensive for a few days so we are wondering whether Barcelona or Venice may be better. Any thoughts pm me please.

Went for the first two years after I was d'fed - first was ok but at the second we were stopped by elders on the way out who wanted to come round and try and get us to go back full time.
This will be the 3rd year in my whole life I haven't been.
Mum, dad, brother, gran, etc will all go - oh dear, always knew I was the black sheep of the family (or should that be black GOAT!)

Sorry Crumpet, couldn't pull myself away from the tv to join your thread - what a race and WELL DONE to LEWIS! As I write this he is standing on the podium at his first ever Grand Prix. McLaren have a slender lead in the World Championship, but it's very early days of course and Ferrari have the quickest package at the moment.
As to why was Button under pressure to let his team mate through when nobody has any points - Button obviously was slower as the race result showed and Rubino and his engineers would have been keen to get ahead of Jenson as early as possible to make the most of their pace.
Shame Honda are not very fast as yet.
I feel awake now after coffee and chocolate shreddies (!) but after a very hard week at work which included a three day trip to the Channel Islands, I think tomorrow at work I'm gonna be a zombie.

Yes I was up in the early hours of this morning watching the qualifying, as I have done for lord knows how many years.
Formula one is fascinating because it is the pinacle of technical achievement in the automotive world. The very best engineers in the world work in aviation on formula 1 - period.
I have always been a massive fan of Ron Dennis and McLaren, so I'm delighted with Alonso driving for them and of course the remarkable progress of Lewis Hamilton. He seems to have such a wise head on his shoulders, you just could not tell that this is his first ever formula 1 race. McLaren have done a fantastic job in preparing him for what is ahead - they are the most professional of all the teams in my opinion. Having said that, I will be surprised (pleasantly so) if Lewis finishes the race.
I'm going to Silverstone this year - first time for ages. I've got start/finish line grandstand seats for all three days - can't wait!!!!!
i don't think i am an apostate, but do feel like one for being on these boards as we were always warned not to at the meetings etc.. i disagree with so many things they teach, the main thing is the blood issue....being a new auntie, i love my niece soooo much and if i were the only person that could save her, how on earth could i not?

that in my books, would be murder.. however, may be it's because i've only been away from the mtgs for a year, but i still think of it most days and although i feel i've made the right decision as nothing was making me happy in it, and obvioulsy my ex beating me and getting away with it.....i still feel a certain pull towards it and a kind of insane loyalty???.

I would say that an apostate is one that actively tries to turn one away from what they believe. I certainly don't do that but I also don't believe the JW teachings anymore, despite being brought up in the 'troof' and not disfellowshipped until in my forties.
I do wish I had never ever got into this religion as now none of my family talk to me, which is as much their loss as mine.
